We need more discussions on how we can safeguard our online data. Furthermore, we need legislation that protects our personal information (including meta data) from being compromised over the internet.
Meta data identity theft occurs when parts of your personal identifying information in the form of data are sold and reassigned to other people, making the use of your own identity less accessible to you. This consequentially causes interferences in your daily living, wrongful consumer restrictions and limitations, targeted scams, and violations to your civil rights. In some cases, victims are treated as if they no longer exist.
